Meshel Laurie is a comedian and radio presenter, television personality and ardent blogger!

Meshel moved to Melbourne.early in her career as a stand-up comic to take advantage of its strong comedy industry. Her first  Melbourne International Comedy Festival show was Dairy Belles which she performed with Corinne Grant. In 1998 she was granted a Brian McCarthy Memorial Moosehead Award to produce The Virgin Mary 2 - This Time It's Personal. Her success began to sky-rocket when, in 2000, she debuted The Whore Whisperer: Confessions of a Madam at the Melbourne Fringe Festival - a show all about her experiences working in brothels as a receptionist/house-keeper. A sell-out in its first season, The Whore Whisperer went on to sell out seasons at the Adelaide Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the  Edinburgh Fringe and the Sydney opera House.

2000 also saw Laurie co-host Enough Rope on 3RRR with Josh Kinal. This was a weekly program about comedy that included the comedy tracks, a look at the comedy industry and interviews with numerous guests including: Wil Anderson, Daniel Kitson, Simon Munnery, Rachel Berger. Regular segments featured Adam Richard and Toby Sullivan. The show was controversially canceled at the end of 2002.

In 2004 Laurie hosted Stand Up!, on ABC TV. She was also a regular on national Rove Live.

Following on from her 2007 MICF performance, Meshel  bounced back onto the Australian comedy scene with a brand new show titled 'A Shadow of My Former Self'. The show was performed in Brisbane at the Powerhouse in June 2007.

In June 2009, Meshel announced via twitter that she was pregnant with twins.  Meshel and her husband Adrian proudly announced the birth of their twins, a boy Louis and a girl Dali, born on Friday 20 November 2009.

Meshel co-hosts Brisbane Nova 106.9's breakfast highest rating breakfast show, “Meshel, Marty & Tim”. She has been with the show for six years and was part of the original on air team that launched the network in Brisbane.

Meshel has made numerous tv appearances, including:  The Glass House, Spicks and Specks, Good News Week ,ADbc, The Circle, You Have Been Watching and Adam Hills: In Gordon St Tonight.

In 2010, Meshel launched a blog to help promote charity and the ways that people can give back to communities all around the world. She has had a number of articles reprinted on the popular Mammamia blogsite this year.

Meshel was recently nominated for the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Heroes Program, recognising her constant updating of information via Twitter during the recent flood crisis. She is honoured to be an official ambassador for His Holiness, The Dalai Lama for his 2011 tour of Australia

Can of Worms is Meshel’s next big tv adventure – she will be seen alongside Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson on Channel 10’s new show – a project co-produced with Zapruder’s Other Films.
