Madeleine creates nuanced narratives that cut-through. Behind the camera she’s written, directed and produced content for Netflix, ABC, SBS and Google. In 2018, Madeleine directed Australia’s first Netflix Original Comedy Special, Hannah Gadsby’s Nanette, and a ten part comedy documentary series for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Corey White’s Roadmap to Paradise. She hosted and directed the confronting, immersive three-part documentary series Maddie Parry and half hour Meatwork for the ABC. Her first documentary Murder Mouth, in which she killed her own food for the first time, was awarded Best Film at Bondi Short Film Festival and Cineglobe, Second Prize at Shorts Film Festival, Official Selection at Slamdance and was nominated for Best Documentary at St Kilda Film Festival, as well as screening at numerous other international festivals. Madeleine was the writer on the Maddie Parry series, Meatwork and Murder Mouth and a contributing writer on John Safran’s Goddam Election! and Corey White’s Roadmap to Paradise. Madeleine is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, mentors young directors, won Best Direction in a Documentary (Standalone) in 2012 from the Australian Director’s Guild (ADG) and was nominated for Best Documentary Series in 2016. Madeleine has ten years experience in difficult access documentary, comedy and approaches the art of storytelling with compassion, incisiveness and humanity.
