Kiruna was born in Australia. Whether she was born a ballsy, fiercely intelligent, hilariously funny, loyal and forthright individual or that came later on is anyones guess. She certainly had those qualities by the time she met Baz Luhrmann otherwise he might not have written a new character for her in his film Moulin Rouge.  Kiruna used the pay cheque to move to England and complete her training at LAMDA. Years in the theatre were to follow where Kiruna was employed not only for her acting but her dance skills (she's a professional tap and burlesque dancer) and worked extensively in the UK, Europe and back in her native country, Australia. TV kicked off with her arrival on Eastenders (the first ever short statured actress on the soap we might add) as Sandra Fielding.  Heart & Soul was next, a BBC 6 part series with Sarah Lancashire about 2 rival choirs in a quite, rural Northern village. Meanwhile, the award winning Jack Thorne wrote the part of Carrie for his darkly comic masterpiece Cast Offs around Kiruna. This screened in the UK in Nov 2009 on channel 4 and blew the lid off many pre-conceptions about living with a disability. A must see drama! Since then she has appeared in 3 episodes of the new BBC/HBO series Life’s Too Short, and just recently finished filming The Best Offer feature film in Italy (with Geoffrey Rush & Donald Sutherland).
