Tony Briggs is a Yorta Yorta/Wurundjeri (Woiwurrung) creative who has worked in the Australian film and television Industry for many years.
Some of Tony’s performing credits include roles in television productions Cleverman, Seven Types of Ambiguity, The Slap, The Broken Shore and The Circuit.
His theatre credits include roles for Melbourne Theatre Company, Queensland and Sydney Theatre companies and many others throughout Australia.
Tony conceived and co-wrote the multi award winning feature film The Sapphires and will be directing a new 2019 and 2020 national touring stage version of this popular story. He was associate director of MTC’S Astroman and is in pre-production of a short film which will be his screen directorial debut.
Tony is dedicated to fostering the next generation of filmmakers with his producing partner Damienne Pradier through their newly established company, Typecast Entertainment, currently facilitating Blak Masterclasses in Film and TV in partnership with Compton School and Youthworx.
