Emma Dockery

Emma Dockery grew up in New Zealand studying and creating independent theatre, before moving across the Tasman to Australia in 2008 where she worked for over a decade in casting before turning to writing, directing and producing. She is currently based in Melbourne and working as the Assistant to the Executive Producer on the NBC Universal series La Brea.

In 2020, Emma was one of a select few chosen to participate in Ron Howard’s inaugural “Imagine Impact” Australian workshop to develop a bible and pilot script for her feminist, political, comedy series, The Party Line.

In 2016, she formed the production company, Generator Pictures, with producing partner Katia Nizic, on a mission to create diverse screen stories with a focus on putting minority creators in front and behind the camera in meaningful roles. Together they optioned the feminist bestseller The Natural Way of Things by Charlotte Wood, which they continue to develop for the screen.

Emma also created and directed the online series Tips with Karen for internationally renowned drag queen and national treasure, Karen from Finance (Ru Paul’s Drag Race Down Under). She followed up by producing and directing the acclaimed Out of Office, Karen’s debut stage show, which continues to sell out houses in Australia and New Zealand.

In the casting world, Emma specialised in directing actors and worked on some of the most celebrated films and series made in Australia including The Hobbit, Upright, Offspring and These Final Hours.
