Honestly, Jan Fran doesn’t really know what she is. She’s a Walkley Award-winning journalist, a TV Presenter, a social commentator, a keynote speaker, an emcee, and she makes videos on the internet that go viral..ish.

She is known for hosting several prime-time weekly television shows, including SBS’s The Feed, Channel 10’s The Project, and most recently ABC’s Question Everything.

Unfortunately, Jan Fran has opinions about everything, especially media and politics. She has spent years trying to harness this terrible affliction into something constructive hence the viral…ish internet videos.

Jan is an in-demand interviewer who regularly hosts in-conversations and panel discussions with writers and thinkers at various festivals, including Sydney Writers Festival, Melbourne Writers Festival, All About Women, Antidote Festival, Broadside, Byron Bay Writer’s Festival and more.

Apparently, she’s writing the next great Australian essay collection. No further questions.

She’s an ambassador for Plan International Australia and the Whitlam Institute’s What Matters? Writing competition. In 2025, she co-founded Ette Media with fellow journalist, Antoinette Lattouf, to help tackle media misinformation.

Jan has shot and produced documentaries from all over the world and has lived in Lebanon, France, Bangladesh and Uganda. She speaks three languages.
