Tegan Higginbotham

Tegan Higginbotham is an actress, writer, and comedian who is best known for her work on projects including Whovians with Rove McManus, Have You Been Paying Attention?Whose Line Is It Anyway? Molly the TV series, and feature films Oddball and Holding The Man. Tegan is the host and creator of Rue Lamarck – The Podcast.

Tegan has performed stand up alongside comedians including Wil Anderson, Dave Hughes and Judith Lucy all around Australia, including the iconic Sydney Opera House. She’s also taken part in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for twelve consecutive years and has been nominated for Best Newcomer and the Golden Gibbo on two separate occasions.

Over the past decade, Tegan has also established herself as a frank, funny and intelligent female voice amidst Melbourne’s sporting landscape. She co-hosted Sideliners on the ABC alongside Nicole Livingstone, The Greatest with Matt Tilley on Fox Footy, and was a regular panelist on The Bounce. Tegan also hosted AFLW’s The Warmdown. Tegan’s first two critically acclaimed stand up shows for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (Million Dollar Tegan and Touched By Fev) investigated the world of boxing and football respectively, with Tegan actually taking part in two pro-rules boxing matches for research.

She is a regular contributor for The Age and has been published in books including She’s Having A Laugh (Affirm Press) and Balancing Act (Brow Books). Her writing work also includes Open Slather, an episode of Little Lunch, and Gnomes, an action/comedy series currently in development.

In recent years, Tegan has been proud to work with organisations and at events including The Australian Ballet, The NGV, The Hamilton Pride Cup, Stella Sparks and Carlton Football Club as their Ambassador for The Blue Foundation.

THE SHELF
For 10 seasons, Tegan was a regular performer at The Shelf – “The Comedy show you won’t see on TV”. Regularly featured on The Shelf Podcast with Adam Richard and Justin Hamilton.
THE ANARCHIST GUILD SOCIAL COMMITTEE (2008-2011)
A sketch group that comprised of performers including Celia Pacquola and Andrew McClelland. The group performed at several Melbourne International Comedy Festivals and Adelaide Fringe Festivals and was invited to perform at Sydney’s “Comedy Island”.
THE TERMINATIVITY
A Christmas show which is a mash-up of the Terminator and the Nativity story by Nick Caddaye and music by Casey Benetto.
THE NO MEANS NO SHOW
A comedy show developed for young women about sex, consent and respectful sexual relationships with CASA House (Centre Against Sexual Assault) and the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne.
A MIDSUMMERS NIGHT DREAM
The show was Directed by Glenda Linscott and played for a season at Theatreworks, St Kilda.
