Tilly Lucas-Rodd is one of the AFLW’s most experienced and decorated players, joining the GWS Giants in 2026 after stints with Carlton, St Kilda and Hawthorn. Drafted by Carlton in 2016, they played in the league’s historic first match at Ikon Park in 2017 and earned an AFLW Rising Star nomination that same season.

After three years at Carlton, Lucas-Rodd moved to St Kilda, where they won the Southern Saints’ VFLW best and fairest in 2019, earned VFLW Team of the Year selection, and in 2022 was named in the AFLW All-Australian squad while finishing runner-up in St Kilda’s best and fairest. It was here they also served as St Kilda’s co-vice-captain and became a consistent member of the leadership group.

Lucas-Rodd joined Hawthorn as the club’s inaugural AFLW captain in 2022, winning the Hawks’ first best and fairest award and becoming the club’s AFLW games record holder. Their standout 2024 season brought All-Australian selection at half-back and Hawthorn’s McClelland Trophy win.

Off the field, Lucas-Rodd came out as non-binary in 2023 and in 2025 became the first AFLW player to undergo gender-affirming top surgery, becoming a prominent voice for LGBTQIA+ inclusion in sport. Off the field, Tilly is a passionate advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion, working to foster cultures of belonging, authentic leadership, and meaningful social change. They enter 2026 with more than 90 AFLW games to their name.
