Ben Winspear

Ben Winspear

Ben has acted for many of Australia’s leading theatre companies and festivals. He played Pip in Great Expectations (MTC), Frankenstein (in Frankenstein) for Sydney Theatre Company, and Faust (in Faustus) for QTC. He won the Helpmann for Best Actor in Baghdad Wedding for Belvoir Street, where he has also performed in Elektra/Orestes and has also appeared in King Lear (as Edmund) for Bell Shakespeare, Long Day’s Journey into Night for Queensland Theatre Company, This Uncharted Hour for Tas Performs and The Sea Project, The Midlands for Mudlark Theatre Co. and Emerald City and Clarke in Sarajevo for Griffin, while he was also the Artistic Associate. Other theatre credits include Love Lies Bleeding, Same Same but Different, Burnt Sonata, and Urfaust. Ben most recently performed in Scenes from a Marriage for Queensland Theatre Company.

On the small screen, Ben was nominated for an AFI for his role in the ABC’s My Place and has also had ongoing roles in Underbelly Badness and A Place to Call Home. Guest appearances include Rosehaven, Rake, House of Hancock, Panic at Rock Island, Crownies, Old School and Black Comedy.

Ben’s feature film credits include The Babadook, Breeding in Captivity and more recently Bad Girl and The Suitor.
