Julie Forsyth

Julie Forsyth is an Australian actor with a career spanning more than four decades.

She has an extensive list of theatre credits to her name including most recently The President for the Gate Theatre, Dublin and Sydney Theatre Company (STC). Also for STC: Accidental Death of An Anarchist, Romeo and Juliet, The Metamorphosis, The Miser. Other theatre credits includes Escaped Alone (Red Stitch); The House of Bernarda Alba, Endgame (MTC); Night on Bald Mountain, Elizabeth: Almost by Chance A Woman, The Ham Funeral, Happy Days, Moving Days (Malthouse Theatre); The Popular Mechanicals (STCSA); Phèdre, The Dream (Bell Shakespeare); The Book of Everything, Exit the King, The Small Poppies, Cloudstreet, The Caucasian Chalk Circle (Company B Belvoir St).

Julie was a core member of Australian Nouveau Theatre (Anthill, Melbourne) with whom she performed in over thirty productions.

Credits for film and television include Joe vs. Carole (UCP), Holding the Man (Screen Australia), Stan and George’s New Life (Lea Films), Kath and Kim (Riley Turner Productions). Voice credits include Harvey Krumpet and Mary and Max (Melodrama Pictures), Babe (Universal Pictures).

Julie has received Helpmann Awards for Best Female Actor in a Play for Happy Days and Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Play for Exit the King; Green Room Awards for Best Actress for Kids’ Stuff as well as Best Ensemble Playing in a Cast of Actors for Cloudstreet, Moving Target, Exit the King and The Book of Everything.

Julie was the recipient of the Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award’s 2009 Individual Award.
