Michelle Offen

Michelle is a freelance television screenwriter and script editor with decades of experience.

She was recently selected for The Creators 2025 – a coveted career acceleration program for high-calibre, mid-career writers building toward creation of their own shows. Funded by Screen Australia and AWG/Scripted Ink, she was supported to attend Content London 2025 to pitch her psychic mystery drama, Touch.

Michelle’s credits cross multiple genres – crime/mystery – East West 101, Rush, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries; animation – 100% Wolf, Tashi ; children’s live action – MaveriX, Playschool. She is a regular writer for the serial Home and Away and is sought after for brainstorming and plotting in writers’ rooms.

With co-creator with Trudy Hellier, they have multiple series ideas in development. Comedy-drama Loved Up, is optioned by UK production company Hat Trick. They received Screen Australia development funding for their polyamory series Polysaturated. Their medical/crime drama The Treatment was one of only 14 projects selected internationally to pitch at Series Mania Writers’ Campus in Lille, France, 2023.

Michelle won an Awgie for Best Original Miniseries East West 101 (S1) and has received NSW and QLD Premier’s Literary Award nominations for East West 101, as well as AWGIE nominations for Rush and EW101 (S 2 & 3). Her EW101 ep The Price of Salvation, was shortlisted in the 51st Monte-Carlo Television Festival.

She is a member of the AWG, WIFT, proudly assisting with the AWGIE Awards as a National Judging Co-ordinator. In 2018 she was presented with the Richard Lane Award for Outstanding Service and Dedication to the AWG.
