Miley Tunnecliffe

Miley Tunnecliffe

Miley Tunnecliffe is a Western Australian writer, director and New York Stella Adler trained performer. In 2019, Miley won Outstanding Emerging Female Director at FLICKERFEST for her digital dramedy series Calling which she wrote and directed. In addition to her behind the camera roles, Miley starred in the project alongside Debra Lawrance (Please Like Me). Calling has played at numerous local and international festivals including Adelaide Film Festival, Cinefest Oz and Revelation International Film Festival. It won Best International Film Award and was nominated for Best Comedy Award at Austin Short Comedy Festival.

Miley has written episodes on Australian series The Heights (ABC), which debuted to critical acclaim in February 2019 and the upcoming ABC animated comedy 100% Wolf. In 2019 Miley was commissioned by SBS Australia to create, write and direct the short comedy series Molly and Cara  starring screen legends Lynette Curran and Rurriwuy Hick and currently screening on SBS OnDemand. Miley earned a Best Director nomination for the series at the upcoming DGA Awards (Winner to be announced). Miley’s latest production as writer/director is the short female-lead suspense drama In Australia. Funded through Screenwest’s Elevate 70K short film initiative, this project is a proof of concept for the feature film currently in development.

In 2019 Miley was invited into the prestigious MIFF Director’s Accelerator LAB Program. And in 2018, she was selected for Screen Australia’s Talent USA Program that introduces the best emerging Australian talent to the international market. On the heels of this US trip, Dynamic TV came on board as producers on one of Miley’s television projects. That same year the Directors Guild selected Miley to attend the Producers Guild Conference as a director “One to Watch.”

In 2017, Miley won the PAGE Awards’ Top Prize for BEST TV COMEDY and was the recipient of the prestigious Screenwest Bill Warnock Writer’s Award. Her writing has consistently placed in international screenwriting awards including The Oscars Academy Nicholls Fellowships and AWG’s Prime Time. Miley wrote and directed the romantic drama Lola & Luis (Nominated-Best Film, Winner-Best Actor at the 2016 WA Screen Awards). She also wrote, produced and starred in the short comedies, Love In A Disabled Toilet and Bye Bye Lulu.
