After working extensively as an actor, Trudy won an AFI for her first short film script Break and Enter and began developing feature scripts.
In 2012 Trudy won a narrative comedy AWGIE for her fourth episode of Lowdown (ABC TV, co-written with Amanda Brotchie and Adam Zwar) and received an AACTA nomination for the same work. Her webseries Little Acorns, written, directed and co-created with Maria Theodorakis (funded through the Screen Australia) was released late 2016 and has received nominations for best Writing at the Melbourne and LA webfests among numerous other nominations. Trudy and Maria were supported through the Gender Matters initiative with a new project, comedy series, Caravan of Love.
Trudy won the RE Ross Trust Award for her play Waking Up Dead, produced in a sellout season at Fortyfivedownstairs, was nominated for a Greenroom Award for writing and toured with Regional Arts Vic. Her play Trapped, recorded for Radio National, was funded through Screen Australia, premiered opening night at St Kilda IFF, won the audience award and travelled to Palm Springs, Edinborough and Odense.
Her most recent short, Foul Play screened at Clermont Ferrand among others. Her feature Barking Love, an Irish/Australian co-production with Optimism Films and Grand Pictures, recently received support from both the Irish film board and Screen Australia. Trudy has worked extensively as an actor, including regular roles in series such as Frontline, Round the Twist, the ABC’s Letters From a War, Sunshine and Fred Schepsi’s feature Eye of the Storm.
